about

While most of the tracks on this album were directed, to some extent or other, to the Lisa referenced in the dedication, this is the only song that was written specifically for her (which is why her name appears in the 2nd verse). I sang it to her in August, a few days after writing it. (If memory serves, on or about my birthday.) I had to pull the phone through the patio door and close the cord between the door and frame to hold the phone so I could play guitar while I sang to her. ah, the things we do for love!

But it worked--she didn't dump me during that phone call, which, I'm pretty sure was her whole purpose in calling.

She dumped me a month later.

Don't ya just love a happy ending?

lyrics

Sitting here alone and dreaming of your pretty eyes.
The love that we discovered took us both quite by surprise.
If you think we're movin' 'way too fast, who am I to criticize?
It ain't no lie.

Lisa I never knew that I could ever feel this way.
And all those other heartaches are all fading to a grey.
We may not have tomorrow, but I think we've got today.
What do you say?

My mind is spinning circles and I don't know what to do?
It all seems so uncertain and I feel so damned confused.
But if I had my own two ways right now, I'd rather be with you.

I guess I love you.
I think I love you.
Yes, I love you.

about

Pete Grubbs Brookville, Pennsylvania

I started performing music when I was 6, turned pro at 20ish & spent well over 30 years tracking down as many gigs a month as possible. While those days are behind me, I'm still making calculated noise. My music lives where rock, classical, folk, blues & parody hang out. Oddly enough, one of their favorite haunts appears to be in collections of my songs--you'll find a bit of each on every track. ... more
